Tips for Removing Stuck ContactsOuch! Not many things hurt your eyes more than removing stuck contact lens from them. Sometimes you forget to take out your contact lenses at night, only to wake up the next morning with blood shot, dry eyes and no way to remove the stuck lens. Be very careful using your fingers removing stuck contact lens. Do not try to pry the contact lens out of your eye without first hydrating the area or it will be too painful and you could end up damaging the lens, or even your eye. First use re-wetting drops to lubricate the eye and make it more receptive to lens removal. Soft contact lenses are larger than RGP (rigid gas permeable) lenses and once wet will move more easily and bend into a position where they can be removed safely. One medical website suggests, "Look up, touch the lens, and let it slide down and over to the outside corner of the eye. The lens will bunch up, so it's easy to fold out." If you wear rigid gas permeable lenses, here is a suggestion for removing your stuck lens: Pull your eyelid straight and tight to the side and blink. It pops right out. If you often find yourself in the position of having to remove a stuck lens because of near-constant use, you may want to consider purchasing 2 week disposable lenses. With your doctor's permission, these can be worn for two weeks straight, including while you sleep. Once the two weeks pass, you simply remove the lenses, throw them out, and pop in a new pair. Always remember to keep your fingers clean when handling and removing contact lens.If your contacts continue to stick to your eyes, remain calm and follow the above instructions.
