The Ohio Implantable Contact Lens

In 2004, the Food and Drug Association approved a fascinating option for the world of near-sighted and far-sighted people. The Ohio implantable contact lens became an option for many people looking to permanently rectify their vision. Implantation of the lens can actually be done under topical anesthesia and can offer exemplary results. Additionally, if one is too near-sighted or far-sighted to expect perfect results from the procedure, they can opt to combine the ohio implantable contact lens surgery with LASIK (provided they are candidates) for a stronger outcome.

The procedure, itself, is straightforward. After a small corneal incision is made, a surgeon will transfer the Ohio implantable contact lens into the eye so that it rests just in front of the natural lens. Vision is said to be even crisper with this procedure than after LASIK surgery. However, it is important to remember that with any surgery there will be risks. Although risks and complications are low with the Ohio implantable contact lens, they need to be recognized and understood. Whenever surgery is performed, there is concern about infection, and operating in the eye is no exception. Additionally, there is some concern that the loss of corneal cells due to the surgery could add to future complications.

However, implantable contact lenses have created a world of opportunity for those who are not candidates for other eye correcting procedures. They are designed for patients with moderate to severe vision problems and tests have shown promising results. The technology is exceptional and for those whose vision is now improved beyond their wildest hopes, these implants are nothing short of miraculous.
