Color Percription Contact Lenses

Want to change the look of your eyes with contact lenses? There are many things to consider when deciding to wear color lenses. Most color contact lenses are only available by prescription, as well-fitted color prescription contact lenses require measurements from a doctor. Before you decide, know the types of color prescription contact lenses, the safety, and the disadvantages.

Types of Color Lenses

Nancy Del Pizzo, a writer for All About Vision, claims that there are four types of color lenses. The visibility tint does not affect the eye color because it is light and only used to help you find your contacts. The second is an enhancement tint. This has a stronger color that boosts, but does not change the eye color. The third type is a color tint, which is opaque and noticeably changes eye color. Then there are theatrical or cosmetic lenses. These lenses may make eyes look like eight balls or cat eyes. The final is a light-filtering tint that is filters out certain colors of light. These are frequently worn by sports players such as golfers so they can better see to play.

Safety

Marilyn Haddrill, a medical writer, offers that colored contacts should only be worn if they are color prescription contact lenses, not simply contacts used to create creepy or fun eyes. Wearing these lenses without could be illegal and is probably unhealthy. So don't wear friends' contacts! And avoid ordering online to be safe.

Disadvantages

While wearing color contact lenses, you may find that they may not fit as well as you would like and may slide over the pupil. Also, specifically in the dark, your pupils may be larger than the clear space allotted for the pupil within the lens. This may have an effect on your vision.
