Affects on Wearing Contact Lenses

Millions of people wear contact lenses every single day, but if you are new to them you might be wondering what affects on wearing contact lenses you might expect. Technically, contact lenses are a medical device, but they are so commonplace most people do not think of them that way. In fact, people tend to forget that contact lenses are even in their eyes at all until it comes time to take them out. Soft lenses in particular can barely even be felt on the surface of the eye. The only time there will be poor affects on wearing contact lenses is if the lenses are not properly cleaned or taken care of.

Follow these simple rules to keep your contact lenses working with no ill affects:

1.Unless you are wearing special lenses that were created for extended wear, take your contact lenses out every night before bed.

2.Clean your lenses every time you take them out of your eyes. Never use tap water, only use contact lens solution suggested by your eye care provider. Be careful not to accidentally tear the lens with your fingernail. If you do tear your contact lens, throw it in the garbage and replace it with a new one.

3.If your eyes feel dry or irritated, use re-wetting drops. If this condition persists, remove your contacts immediately.

4.Make an appointment with your eye doctor every six months or so.

If you learn the proper way to clean, disinfect and store your contacts, it is unlikely that complications will arise. The good news is millions of people wear contact lenses and they are relatively easy to use. As long as you're willing to take the time to follow instructions, affects on wearing contact lenses will be a bother to you.
